Three little pigs in satin, bears in teddies, rub a dub dub three men in a tub: this is not your standard fairytale. Rhymetown is going to the wolves.

LITTLE BO PEEP – sultry singer seeks her sheep! JACK B. NIMBLE – Private Eye hot on her tail! Corruption! Passion! Betrayal! Scrambled eggs! Can Jack crack Rhyme Town’s stickiest murder? …Or has he fallen for the wrong dame?

In The City That Cried Wolf Reeves has crafted favorite characters from nursery rhymes and fairytales into a film-noir style detective story with a contemporary political edge. Jack makes some startling discoveries while tracking down the criminal mastermind behind the murder of Councilman Humpty Dumpty; he uncovers dark plots, shady pasts, and nefarious schemes featuring the likes of bumbling cop brothers named Grimm, the excitable Madame Turkey Lurkey, and coroners Drs. Hansel and Gretel. Beneath the engaging plot and quirky sense of humor lies an examination of important modern themes, raising questions of justice, race relations, terrorism, and the implications of freedom.

The City That Cried Wolf comes to 59E59 Theaters fresh from successful runs at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival, the Berkshire Fringe Festival, and the Pioneer Arts Center of Easthampton, Massachusetts. Josephine Cashman of of NYTheatre.com calls it, “One of the smartest scripts I’ve seen this year.” NewBerkshire.com adds, “the ‘fasten your seatbelt’ sign should have been lit.”
