The Playground
Welcome to The Playground…
State of Play Productions is looking for scripts, large and small, dramatic and comedic, and we’re especially interested in new voices. We are not a traditional presenting house. Instead we take an active role in workshopping the plays we produce. So if you’re a new playwright looking for a theatre company to work with, or an old playwright with a new idea, we’re looking for you!
We are seeking innovative, incendiary works to develop to their fullest potential. Our goal is to expose emerging playwrights to a broader audience and to bring exciting new work to the forefront. At the end of the twelve-hour rehearsal process, each selected work will be produced as a public reading free of charge. The event will be followed 
by a post-show discussion in which the audience can contribute to the process.
Each playwright is assigned an experienced team headed by a director and a dramaturge. All members of the team, including the actors, will actively participate in the development process, working closely with the writer every step of the way.
The Playground is also a breeding ground for original ensemble work to rock our world. It is a safe forum for collaborative, experimental work to prosper.
